According to Variety, the new spinoff would be produced by CBS, marking a shift from the original show’s network.

As Kayce Dutton from Yellowstone, Grimes is anticipated to return in what has been called a “procedural series.”

The Yellowstone franchise has seen numerous offshoots, with two prequel series enjoying significant popularity.

As reported by Variety, the specific “plot details” for Grimes’ series are still not finalized, and an official agreement has yet to be signed.

Grimes portrayed the son of Kevin Costner’s character in the original Yellowstone show.

As fans are aware, Costner’s character was killed off at the conclusion of the series, eliminating the possibility of his return for a spinoff.

This would mark the second planned spinoff in addition to the prequels 1923 and 1883, which explored the histories of the Dutton family ancestors and their acquisition of the family’s ranch lands in Montana.

Variety has previously indicated that actors Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly, who portray Rip and Beth, will also participate in another spinoff.

The timeline for the new Luke Grimes series remains uncertain.

It is also unclear where the show will be set or what roles Kayce Dutton’s son and wife will play in the upcoming series.

The original Yellowstone series concluded with Kayce and his family negotiating an agreement with a neighboring tribe to give up the ranch land while retaining part of it and ensuring that the rest would never be developed.
