Officer on Duty OTT Date of Release: Jithu Ashraf’s first feature film, the Malayalam action thriller Officer on Duty, has been a critical and financial success. Vishak Nair, Jagadish, Priyamani, and Kunchacko Boban play important parts in the Shahi Kabir-written movie. The film has received accolades from both reviewers and audiences, especially for its powerful soundtrack, captivating plot, and outstanding performances, particularly from Kunchacko Boban, Jagadish, and Vishak Nair.
This was Jithu Ashraf’s first film as a director. He had previously served as an assistant director on movies such as Action Hero Biju, Udaharanam Sujatha, and Ela Veezha Poonchira. Netflix has purchased the post-theatrical digital streaming rights to Officer on Duty, which was released in theaters on February 20, 2025. Starting on March 20, Officer on Duty will be streamed in a number of languages, including Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada, enabling a larger audience to enjoy its compelling story. This OTT release is anticipated to increase the film’s popularity and reach after its successful theatrical run.
Story of the Officer on Duty
Recently reduced to the rank of CI, Harishankar, also called Hari, is a hot-tempered and rigorous police officer. After receiving a report about Chandrababu trying to mortgage a phony gold chain, he becomes the target of a string of horrific atrocities connected to his own previous personal tragedy. He learns that Christy is the mastermind behind these incidents as the investigation progresses. Harishankar refuses to back down when Christy tells him to drop the case. The remainder of the narrative centers on Harishankar’s battle to contain his rage, his unrelenting quest for justice, and his attempts to apprehend Christy and his gang.
Cast and Crew of the Officer on Duty
Kunchacko Boban plays DYSP/CI Harishankar in Officer on Duty, while Priyamani plays his wife, Geetha. Vishak Nair portrays Christy Savio, the primary adversary, and Jagadish plays Chandrababu, a KSRTC conductor. Aadukalam Naren appears as Commissioner Marthandam, and Vaisakh Shankar as DYSP Shahul Raj.
The film also featured Vishnu G. Warrier as Sathya Mithiran, Ramzan Muhammed as Shyam Babu, Leya Mammen as Celine Joan, & Amit Eapen as Lance, and Aishwarya Raj as Anna Louis. Nila and Minnu, the daughters of Harishankar, are portrayed by Meenakshi Anoop and Eithal Evana Sherin. Ajmal Ameer as Sultan, Srikant Murali as SI Venu, Unni Lalu as Praveen, and Shivajith as Soori are other noteworthy cast members. Raghunath Paleri plays Harishankar’s father, while C. J. Antony appears as Antony. Henna Bella, Jaya Kurup, Manoj K. U. as ASI Thomas, Nileen Sandra as a doctor, and Anju Abraham as Chithra are present in the movie.
The film Officer on Duty is directed by Jithu Ashraf and penned by Shahi Kabir, with production by Martin Prakkat, Renjith Nair, and Siby Chavara. Roby Varghese Raj is responsible for the cinematography, while Chaman Chakko takes care of the editing. The music score is composed by Jakes Bejoy, with lyrics written by Vinayak Sasikumar and Suhail Koya. The trailer editing was done by Saiju Sreedharan, and the creative direction was overseen by Jineesh Chandran. Production design was managed by Dileep Nath, with Shabeer Malavattathu as the production controller.
Sound design was carried out by KC Sidharthan and Sankaran AS, while Vishnu Sujathan was in charge of sound mixing. Makeup was provided by Ronex Xavier, and Sameera Saneesh designed the costumes.
