Jay North, famed for his role as TV’s Dennis the Menace, passed away at the age of 73

Jay North, on Sunday, after a long battle with cancer. His death was initially reported by close friend Jeannie Russell, who played Margaret Wade, Dennis’s companion on the show.

Other former child actors, including Barry Livingston from “My Three Sons” and Jon Provost from “Lassie,” shared their condolences, with Provost referring to him as an “original and dear friend.”

Born on August 3, 1951, in Hollywood, North became a household name by the age of 8 (with TV promoters advising him to claim he was a year younger) for his portrayal of the playful Dennis in the televised adaptation of the beloved comic strip.

The series ran from late 1959 until 1963, during which time his mother carefully preserved his earnings. He later criticized the actions of his aunt, whom he accused of both physical and emotional abuse, which complicated his feelings about his iconic role on the show.

As the show’s popularity waned, North found himself struggling after aging out of the industry. He made numerous guest appearances on television, often promoting “Dennis,” along with a few film projects, before facing difficulties.

Jay North Movies

He acted in “Zebra in the Kitchen” (1965) and “Maya” (1966), but then experienced a lengthy hiatus. During this time, he took part in dinner theater and lent his voice to Bamm-Bamm as a teenager in the animated series “Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show” (1971-1972).

His last leading role came in the suspense film “The Teacher” in 1974.

North served in the Navy and later made additional acting appearances, including a role on “General Hospital” (1982).

In 1988, he fell victim to one of the first significant death hoaxes; he later referenced this and other strange experiences as a former child star in the film “Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star” in 2003.

Having been married three times, he is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Cindy, along with three stepdaughters.

Bitcoin News: Bitcoin Experiences Worst Q1 in Ten Years, Raising Cycle Concerns Amid Economic Instability

In Q1 2025, Bitcoin (BTC) recorded an 11.7% decline, marking its weakest first-quarter results since 2015, as reported by NYDIG Research. This drop, influenced by uncertainty in economic policies, profit-taking actions, and rising global trade tensions, has reignited discussions about the current status of the crypto market cycle.

A Ten-Year Low Opening for Bitcoin

Bitcoin’s performance in Q1 2025 ranked 12th out of the last 15 first quarters, which significantly contrasts its usual strong starts to the year. The last time BTC began a year so poorly was in 2015, during a drawn-out bear market that followed the Mt. Gox collapse. Although the asset eventually recovered, the poor start raises concerns regarding the course of 2025.

After Donald Trump’s election victory in November, the crypto markets surged due to optimism surrounding pro-crypto regulations and a more favorable stance from the SEC. However, this bullish outlook was shaken in early April when Trump announced extensive reciprocal tariffs on international trade partners.

This announcement resulted in a $5.4 trillion loss in the U.S. equities market over just two trading days, pushing the Nasdaq 100 into bear market territory and driving the S&P 500 down to its lowest level in 11 months.

Although Bitcoin initially demonstrated some resilience by decreasing less than 4% during the stock market downturn, it has since fallen below $80,000, raising concerns about the potential for macro-driven risk aversion to extend into the crypto market.

Llama 4: Meta Platforms (META) is anticipated to launch its new large language model ‘Llama 4’ later this month

Following at least two previous delays, according to a report from The Information on Friday, the company is striving to take the lead in the AI sector.

Nonetheless, the release of Llama 4 might be postponed once more, the report indicated, citing sources who are familiar with the situation.

Major tech companies have been heavily investing in AI infrastructure since the emergence of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which transformed the technology landscape and spurred investment in machine learning.

The report mentioned that one reason for the delays is that Llama 4 fell short of Meta’s expectations in certain technical benchmarks, especially regarding reasoning and mathematical tasks.

It was also noted that the firm was worried that Llama 4 might not perform as well as OpenAI’s models in facilitating human-like voice conversations.

Under increasing pressure from investors to demonstrate returns on investments, Meta is planning to allocate up to $65 billion this year to enhance its AI infrastructure.

Additionally, the emergence of a popular, cost-effective model from a Chinese tech company, DeepSeek, calls into question the notion that creating the top AI model necessitates billions in funding.

Expertise of Meta Llama 4

According to the report, Llama 4 is expected to incorporate some technical elements from DeepSeek, with at least one version anticipated to utilize a machine-learning technique known as the mixture of experts method, which trains different parts of models for specialized tasks, enabling them to excel in those areas.

Meta is also considering initially launching Llama 4 through Meta AI and subsequently releasing it as open-source software, the report stated.

Last year, Meta introduced the largely free Llama 3 AI model, which can engage in conversations in eight languages, produce higher-quality computer code, and tackle more complex mathematical problems compared to earlier versions.

Travis Scott:The black market is experiencing a resurgence following the sell-out of both concerts in Delhi

Travis Scott’s eagerly awaited concert in India witnessed tickets disappearing within seconds of becoming available, triggering widespread anger as black market activity arose quickly, reminiscent of the Coldplay concert incidents in Mumbai and Ahmedabad earlier this year.

In spite of previous warnings from ticketing platforms and law enforcement after the Coldplay event, which promised strict repercussions for black marketers, the same issue has reemerged. Currently, tickets for Travis Scott’s performance are being resold on secondary sites like Viagogo at inflated prices.

Travis Scott’s Circus Maximus tour tickets Price

On these resale sites, tickets that originally cost between ₹3,500 and ₹30,000 (for lounge access) are now available for as much as ₹3,00,000. The lowest price on the black market is currently ₹5,582, still well above the initial price range.

As millions of fans anxiously waited in line on BookMyShow, concerns have been raised regarding black marketers capitalizing on such high-demand events for personal gain, in spite of ongoing warnings and commitments from authorities and ticketing companies for more regulation.

Tickets for the October 18 concert became available on Saturday at noon and were sold out within minutes. The ticketing platform then proceeded to announce another concert on October 19, with tickets going live at 1 PM, which also sold out in mere minutes, as reported by users across social media.

Both concerts will take place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi.

Numerous fans who had been waiting online reported missing out on ticket purchases despite spending hours in line. The digital queue system became a laughing stock on social media, with users humorously comparing their ticket queue numbers to their JEE ranks, highlighting the frustration and absurdity of the situation.

Tariffs Trigger Another Stock Market Collapse—Losses Near $5 Trillion As Dow Dives Another 2,000 Points

Topline Investors did not experience the recovery they may have anticipated on Thursday following the historic losses, as stocks once again fell significantly while the market processes President Donald Trump’s tariffs, amidst China imposing a 34% retaliatory tariff on U.S. imports.

Thursday marked the steepest daily drop since 2020 for all three major U.S. indices—the Dow Jones Industrial Average (-4%, or 1,680 points on Thursday), the S&P 500 (-5%), and the tech-focused Nasdaq (-6%)—and the situation worsened on Friday.

The Dow dropped 5.1%, or roughly 2,100 points, by early afternoon, extending its two-day decline to around 3,700 points, while both the S&P and Nasdaq fell about 5.5% each on Friday, resulting in a cumulative 10% drop for the S&P and an 11% decrease for the Nasdaq since Trump’s tariff announcement on Wednesday.

All three indices are down at least 10% from their peak values achieved a few months ago, with the Dow and S&P reaching their lowest levels intraday since May, and the Nasdaq hitting its most affordable point since April—officially entering correction territory—and the Nasdaq falling into a bear market as it traded over 20% below its all-time high in December, marking its first bear market since 2022.

Stocks have declined to their lowest points in several months, with both the Dow and S&P reaching their lowest intraday values since May, while the Nasdaq touched its least expensive level since April.

Beyond the effects of the continued negative sentiment stemming from the tariffs of 10% or more on most imports announced on Wednesday, investors also reacted negatively to the retaliatory measures led by China and Trump’s steadfastness, as the president stated on Friday via social media that his “POLICIES WILL NEVER CHANGE.”

The selloff erased more than $4.9 trillion in market capitalization from stocks listed on the S&P, according to data from FactSet, with Apple, Nvidia, and Tesla comprising a combined loss exceeding $1 trillion.

Which Stocks Have Declined The Most Due To Tariffs?

Shares of American companies heavily reliant on China for a significant share of their revenues were especially impacted, with the iPhone maker Apple, coffee giant Starbucks, and Elon Musk’s Tesla each declining by at least 7%. Since Wednesday, the biggest percentage losers among American firms valued at over $100 billion include Citigroup, ConocoPhillips, Boeing, Bank of America, Starbucks, Qualcomm, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, Advanced Micro Devices, Wells Fargo, and Apple, with shares of each losing 15% or more during the two-day span.

Trump urged Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell to promptly lower interest rates; however, Powell indicated no inclination to do so in a speech on Friday, mentioning it is “too soon” to assess the forthcoming monetary policy decisions. Powell did, however, issue a stark warning about the economic repercussions of tariffs, forecasting that they would lead to “higher inflation and slower growth.”

‘Kesari Chapter 2’ trailer: Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday confront the British crown

The movie, which draws inspiration from the events surrounding the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, also stars R Madhavan.

On Thursday (April 3), Dharma Productions unveiled the trailer for Kesari Chapter 2. Featuring Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan, and Ananya Panday, this historical drama is set during and after the tragic Jallianwala Bagh incident in 1919.

Kumar portrays a lawyer modeled after C. Sankaran Nair, who takes on the British crown to reveal the truth behind Jallianwala. Kumar says in the teaser, “We are suing the crown for genocide.” Kumar declares in the trailer. Madhavan plays a formidable lawyer, Neville McKinley, who defends the British administration’s actions in Punjab. Ananya Panday, as a determined female lawyer, serves as Kumar’s loyal assistant.

Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, Kesari Chapter 2 is inspired by the book The Case That Shook the Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat. The film seems to weave together multiple historical events into a cohesive narrative, covering the findings of the Hunter Commission and a libel lawsuit initiated by Michael O’Dwyer against Sir CS Nair in England.

Kesari Chapter 2 Story

The Jallianwala Bagh massacre stands as one of the most somber episodes of British colonial governance in India. On April 3, 1919, in Amritsar, Reginald Dyer, a British Brigadier-General, commanded troops to fire on an unarmed assembly of over 15,000 Indians who had gathered at Jallianwala Bagh to peacefully protest the Rowlatt Act. The massacre sent shockwaves around the globe and became a catalyst for rising anti-British sentiments in India.

CS Nair was a prominent Indian lawyer who was the only Indian member of the Viceroy’s Executive Council during the massacre. Deeply disturbed by the bloodshed, he resigned from his esteemed position, compelling the British to enact reforms, including the withdrawal of martial law in Punjab.

CS Nair later authored a book, Gandhi and Anarchy (1922), in which he criticized Michael O’Dwyer, the lieutenant governor of Punjab at the time of the massacre. He accused O’Dwyer of enabling the heinous acts through his oppressive governance. This led to a libel action from O’Dwyer, who had returned to England after being dismissed from his role in Punjab.

Kesari Chapter 2 is scheduled for release in theaters on April 18, 2025.

Review of Sikandar: Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna’s film primarily relies on suckers’ love for Bhai

Salman Khan’s highly anticipated film, Sikandar, has finally premiered in cinemas. Directed by AR Murugadoss, the movie features Rashmika Mandanna in a significant role. But is it worth your time? Read our comprehensive review here.

Sikandar tells the story of Raja Sahab, portrayed by Salman Khan, who is the final descendant of the royal lineage of Rajkot. The affection he receives from his subjects is unmatched. However, he faces lethal threats as he frequently admonishes criminals with violence. His life takes a turn after he confronts Prateik Babbar, who plays the son of a politician, and teaches him a valuable lesson. The father of this young man seeks revenge and aims to kill Raja Sahab.

Sikandar largely depends on the mass appeal of Salman Khan. With numerous scenes designed to provoke applause, it’s hard not to get caught up in the thrill and cheer for Bollywood’s ‘Bhai’ at the theater. His action scenes are specifically crafted to highlight his iconic style, showcasing his unique flair. The film’s direction is intentionally tailored to please his fan base, making it clear that every shot is engineered to elicit cheers from the audience.

Salman Khan’s performance is captivating, and he dominates each scene with his signature charm. Whether he’s delivering one-liners, executing stunts, or simply entering a room, his presence is striking. Sikandar is a blatant display of a Salman Khan film, and it’s a vibrant journey that is guaranteed to leave his fans beaming.

Nonetheless, Salman Khan fails to connect emotionally in moments where he addresses the sorrow of his wife’s passing. These scenes appear disjointed and fail to resonate with the audience. While the film is overflowing with action, its emotional depth turns out to be its most significant flaw.

On the other hand, Rashmika Mandanna is a joy to watch. She plays the role of Salman’s spouse, and although the filmmakers attempt to portray her as a formidable character, her independence is often questionable. Her chemistry with Salman is appealing, but there’s one downside – she doesn’t have enough screen time. Perhaps it’s time for her to reconsider the roles she’s accepting. Rashmika may need to pursue projects that allow her to shine and truly display her acting skills, without being overshadowed.

Sikandar star-cast performance

Sathyaraj’s talent is underutilized in this film, primarily due to a poorly constructed antagonist role. Similarly, Sharman Joshi, who plays Amar, fails to introduce anything fresh. Cameos from Anjini Dhawan and Kajal Agarwal are extended but do little to enhance the story.

The music and background score in Sikandar deserve commendation. They effectively enhance the on-screen action and drama. The soundtrack aims to elevate the emotional resonance, while the BGM skillfully builds tension, suspense, and excitement.

In summary, Sikandar seeks to be a poignant drama that portrays the relationship between a husband and his wife. The film takes a heartbreaking turn as it delves into the husband’s journey through grief and determination following the tragic loss of his wife. But can filmmakers continuously depend on Salman Khan’s mass appeal to propel a film? No. It lacks originality and experimental flair. Yet, perhaps that’s precisely what his devoted fans desire. For others, this film is a suitable one-time viewing experience.
